The Ultimate Christmas Entertaining Guide for Australians
Christmas entertaining in Australia is a unique and wonderful experience. We celebrate in the height of summer — long days, warm evenings, and the smell of a barbecue in the air. Whether you're hosting a big family lunch, an intimate dinner, or a festive backyard party, here's how to make your Christmas gathering truly memorable with help from Emerson's On Main.
Set the Scene Before Guests Arrive
First impressions matter. Before your guests walk through the door, make sure your home is dressed for the occasion. A striking piece at the entrance sets the festive tone immediately.
Our Animated White Christmas Bear 110cm (AUD $495.00) positioned in your hallway or living room entrance is guaranteed to stop guests in their tracks and spark conversation from the moment they arrive.
Create Atmosphere with Scent
Great entertaining engages all the senses — including smell. Light a festive candle an hour before guests arrive so the scent fills the room naturally. Our Christmas Pine Candle 120G (AUD $24.95) creates a warm, woody Christmas atmosphere that guests will notice and love the moment they walk in.
Add Entertainment That Runs Itself
The best party trick is something that entertains your guests without you having to do anything. Our Max Christmas Crooner (AUD $89.95) is exactly that — an animated singing character that brings energy, laughter, and festive cheer to any gathering. Set him up in the corner and watch your guests gravitate towards him all evening.
Style Your Table
Your dining table is the centrepiece of any Christmas lunch or dinner. Keep the table décor simple but intentional — a few candles, some greenery, and a festive accent piece are all you need. Avoid overcrowding the table; leave room for the food and for guests to actually talk to each other.
A Christmas Pine Candle placed at the centre of the table adds warmth and scent without taking up too much space.
Think About the Kids
If children are coming to your Christmas gathering, make sure there's something magical for them too. Our Playful Christmas Mice Hanging Decoration (AUD $13.50) is a fun, whimsical touch that kids will love — and it doubles as a great conversation piece for adults too.
Send Guests Home with a Gift
A small gift for guests to take home is a lovely touch that people remember long after the party is over. Our Christmas Pine Candle 120G at $24.95 makes a perfect take-home gift — affordable enough to give to every guest, but thoughtful enough to feel genuinely special.
