New Year New Home — Refresh Your Space After Christmas
Christmas is over, the decorations are packed away, and suddenly your home feels a little bare. Sound familiar? The post-Christmas period is actually the perfect time to refresh your space — to reset, reimagine, and start the new year with a home that feels fresh, intentional, and beautiful. Here's how to do it with pieces from Emerson's On Main.
Start with a Clean Slate
Before you add anything new, take everything out. Remove all the Christmas decorations, give every surface a good clean, and spend a moment in each room assessing what's working and what isn't. A clean, empty space is full of possibility. This is also a great time to declutter — if something doesn't bring you joy or serve a purpose, let it go.
Reintroduce Pieces with Intention
Rather than putting everything back the way it was, be selective. Choose pieces that feel right for the new year — things that are calm, beautiful, and meaningful. A well-placed candle, a considered decorative object, or a striking sign can completely transform a room.
Our Christmas Eve Metal Sign (AUD $39.95) transitions beautifully from Christmas into the new year — its rustic, timeless style works in any season and adds warmth to any wall or shelf.
Refresh Your Scent
Scent is one of the most powerful ways to signal a fresh start. After weeks of pine and cinnamon, switching to a cleaner, lighter scent can make your home feel instantly renewed. Our Christmas Pine Candle 120G (AUD $24.95) is a beautiful transitional scent — warm and grounding without feeling overly festive.
Rearrange Before You Buy
Before spending any money, try rearranging what you already have. Moving furniture, swapping cushions between rooms, or repositioning artwork can make a space feel completely different — for free. You might be surprised how much of a difference a simple rearrangement makes.
Invest in One Statement Piece
If you do want to add something new, invest in one quality statement piece rather than several smaller items. A single beautiful object will have far more impact than a collection of smaller, forgettable pieces.
